Job Title: NPI Engineer – Product Engineering Department (PED)

Job Description:
As an NPI Engineer in the Product Engineering Department (PED) at India Nippon Electricals, you will be responsible for managing the New Product Introduction (NPI) process for automotive electrical systems. The role focuses on ensuring that new products are developed and launched efficiently while meeting quality, cost, and timeline objectives.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to drive product development from concept to mass production. The role also involves improving manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive alignment of the New Product Introduction (NPI) strategy with internal stakeholders and supplier partners.
- Lead and coordinate NPI activities to ensure smooth product transition from design to production.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation such as PFMEA, work instructions, process flow charts, routing data, procedures, and product labels.
- Ensure compliance with NPI Phase Review Guidelines and quality management systems.
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical input for new electronic circuit designs and redesigns due to component obsolescence.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient production readiness and process optimization.
- Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews to improve product manufacturability.
- Coordinate and execute pilot builds, first article inspections (FAI), and product validation activities.
- Identify risks during product development and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the transition from prototype to mass production, resolving yield and quality issues.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure component readiness, tooling development, and process validation.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement improvements during ramp-up stages.
- Maintain compliance with IATF 16949 standards and ensure proper NPI documentation.
- Monitor product performance after launch and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) and product development processes.
- Good understanding of automotive manufacturing systems and quality standards.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Good communication and project coordination skills.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Tools & Systems:
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools
- CAD software for product design evaluation
- Quality tools such as PFMEA, RCA, and Six Sigma methods
- Project management tools (MS Project or similar)
