Role Description The NPD (New Product Development) Chef is a full-time, on-site role based in Hoshiarpur, responsible for developing and testing new frozen cake and pastry products from concept to launch. This role involves creating innovative recipes aligned with brand standards, conducting trial batches, and optimizing formulations for large-scale production while maintaining taste, texture, and quality. The NPD Chef will collaborate closely with production, quality, procurement, and sales teams to ensure feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of new products. Day-to-day tasks include documenting recipes and processes, evaluating raw materials, conducting sensory evaluations, and refining products based on internal and customer feedback. The role also includes monitoring market trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences to recommend new product ideas and enhancements to the existing range.
Qualifications
- Strong product development skills in bakery, patisserie, or confectionery, with hands-on experience creating and standardizing cake and dessert recipes.
- Solid knowledge of ingredients, baking science, food safety, hygiene standards, and shelf-life considerations for frozen and chilled products.
- Experience in scaling recipes from kitchen trials to industrial or semi-industrial production, including process optimization and cost control.
- Ability to conduct sensory evaluations, document formulations, maintain accurate records, and prepare NPD reports and specifications.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with production, quality, procurement, and sales teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail, creativity in flavor and texture combinations, and a strong focus on consistency and quality.
- Previous experience in a commercial bakery, cake factory, or FMCG food manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Bakery & Confectionery, Food Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Willingness to work on-site in Hoshiarpur and flexibly adjust to production schedules and trial timelines.
