📍 Role Details- Location: Gurgaon (100% On-site, Full-time)
- Experience: 5–10 Years in R&D / F&D (Personal Care, Skincare, Haircare & Hygiene)
- Education: Master’s Degree or higher in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or equivalent from a top-tier institution.
💡 Role SummaryThe NPD — Formulation Chemist (R&D + F&D) will design and develop new formulations (NPD), optimize existing formulations (EPD), and drive product development projects from concept to market launch. In this role you will design and develop new formulations, optimize existing formulations, and contribute to product development projects from concept to commercialization. Day-to-day tasks include conducting laboratory experiments, recording and analyzing data, performing stability and compatibility studies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance. You will also support scale-up activities, participate in troubleshooting during production, and maintain accurate documentation following internal standards and industry best practices. This position requires close coordination with operations, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure successful implementation of new products. You will manage end-to-end execution across laboratory benchwork, 3P/OEM manufacturing, scale-up activities, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional alignment.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
1. Formulation, R&D & Lab Operations- Formulation Design & Optimization: Design, develop, and troubleshoot new formulations for skincare, haircare, and hygiene lines; continuously refine existing formulas and processes.
- Lab Benchwork & Testing: Conduct laboratory experiments, analyze physical/chemical properties, perform prototype testing, and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with SOPs and industry best practices.
- Stability & Performance: Perform stability, shelf-life, and packaging compatibility studies to evaluate performance, safety, and sensory targets.
- Material Management: Maintain lab inventory, handle sensitive chemicals/reagents safely, and execute equipment maintenance following quality and safety regulations.
2. Scale-Up, Production & 3P Management- Technology Transfer & Scale-Up: Support scale-up activities and transition formulas smoothly to plant-scale production (open to travel for plant transfers).
- Production Troubleshooting: Participate in troubleshooting during production batches to maintain high quality standards.
- 3P / OEM Collaboration: Partner with external 3P labs, contract manufacturers, and packaging vendors from concept prototypes through final artwork and readiness.
3. Commercialization, Costing & Compliance- NPD Pipeline Execution: Translate consumer trends and raw material innovations into clear product briefs, hero claims, and structured stage-gate launch plans.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with operations, quality, supply chain, and project teams to ensure seamless product rollouts.
- COGS & Margin Control: Own target pricing, value engineering, BOM/COGS optimization, and MOQ planning.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure alignment with Indian labeling, claims, safety, and documentation standards in coordination with RA/QA partners.
✨ Qualifications & Requirements- Academic Background: Degree, Master's, or PhD in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on R&D Expertise: 5–10 years of hands-on experience in R&D and formulation work, including developing, testing, refining, and troubleshooting complex formulations in personal care or allied industries.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to interpret experimental data, perform root-cause analysis on formulation issues, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Laboratory & Safety Mastery: Solid benchwork skills, including the safe handling of chemicals/reagents, operating analytical instruments, and strict adherence to laboratory protocols.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Practical experience in QC—performing routine testing, validating results, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory safety standards.
- Regulatory & Documentation Knowledge: Deep understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and meticulous documentation practices (lab notebooks, SOPs, QA handover).
- Collaborative Mindset: High attention to detail, proactive problem-solving ability, and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams on-site.
