About the role
Position: Mental Health Technician
Schedule: Per Diem position.
Location: UMC's Crisis Stabilization Center, Las Vegas, Nevada – Onsite (This role is not eligible for Remote or Hybrid)
What’s the role?
As a Mental Health Technician at NovumHealth, your primary purpose is to provide compassionate care and support to individuals with mental health disorders. You will play a crucial role in assisting with the implementation of treatment plans, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, and facilitating therapeutic activities to promote their recovery.
What you’ll do:
- Welcome and engage individuals visiting the support center, establishing a trusting and supportive relationship.
- Provide empathetic and non-judgmental support to individuals contacting the support center seeking behavioral health assistance.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities and interventions, such as group discussions, recreational programs, and life skills training.
- Monitor and document clients' progress, behaviors, and responses to interventions.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement comprehensive support plans.
- Advocate for clients' rights, needs, and preferences, ensuring a person-centered approach to care.
- Additional duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of behavioral health conditions, symptoms, and available treatment options.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships.
- Understanding of crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies.
- Familiarity with community resources and referral systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
What you’ll need to start:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass drug screening and background check in order to start employment with Novum Health.
- Must be willing to receive vaccinations in accordance with hospital and state requirements.
What will make you stand out:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in human services field.
- Previous work or volunteer experience in a community setting.
