Job Description:
The Keyholder 2 is a trusted, non-managerial leader who plays a critical role in daily store operations. This position is regularly scheduled to open and/or close the store each week, sets shift coverage when assigned, and serves as a leadership presence on the sales floor. When not opening or closing, the Keyholder 2 performs full budtender duties while supporting team execution and customer experience.
This role carries elevated responsibility and accountability without formal managerial authority.
Key Responsibilities:
Opening & Closing Operations

Execute opening and closing procedures in strict accordance with company security protocols

Manage alarm systems, access controls, and secure entry/exit procedures

Conduct cash handling responsibilities including till counts, safe drops, deposit preparation, and required documentation

Ensure registers, safes, and sensitive materials are secured at all times
Store Presentation & Visual Standards

Maintain a store environment that is consistently “Grand-Opening ready”

Execute daily floor replenishment, merchandising resets, markdowns, and fixture standards

Ensure compliance with company visual merchandising and brand guidelines
Customer Service Leadership

Deliver best-in-class guest experiences through knowledgeable, compliant cannabis service

Resolve customer questions, concerns, and escalations with professionalism and empathy

Serve as the point person during high-volume periods when management is unavailable
Staff Support & Mentorship

Provide guidance and direction to budtenders during shifts

Assist in onboarding, training reinforcement, and peer mentoring

Delegate tasks and manage floor flow during assigned leadership shifts
Operations & Inventory Support

Support POS operations, stock movements, inventory counts, and product transfers

Identify and communicate discrepancies or operational concerns to management promptly

Uphold compliance standards related to inventory handling and sales
Security & Loss Prevention

Enforce all loss prevention and safety procedures

Monitor for suspicious activity and protect company assets

Follow all ethical, safety, and compliance standards outlined in company policies
Policy Adherence & Reporting

Remain current on company policies and operational procedures

Ensure policies are upheld during assigned shifts

Proactively report issues, risks, or improvement opportunities to management
Scheduling & Expectations

Scheduled weekly to open and/or close the store

Flexible availability required, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays

Reliable transportation is required; leadership coverage depends on punctuality and consistency

Elevated responsibility balanced with appropriate support and compensation—burnout is not an expectation
Qualifications

3+ years of retail and/or supervisory experience (cannabis preferred)

Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication

Proficiency with POS systems and inventory tools

Detail-oriented, dependable, and professional

Demonstrated leadership aptitude and interest in advancement
