2026-2027 Co-Athletic Directors (2) at Northbrook Junior High
Stipend Positions: $5,607.00 split between both directors
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree preferred; prior experience with coaching preferred

Performance Responsibilities:
- Communicate with administration and provide leadership in the selection and assignment of coaches
- Meet with coaches prior to the season and review the Coach’s Handbook, expectations and responsibilities, philosophy, procedures, general rules, and student eligibility
- Promote positive communication between parents and coaches; this includes conducting pre-season email communications or parent in-person communications scheduled by coaches; the correspondence must include the following:
- - Student-Athlete Expectations
- - Athletic Handbook and Signed Contract
- Maintain/Edit Coach’s and Student Athlete’s Handbooks to ensure that they are current and correct
- Maintain/Edit Athletic Webpage on the NBJH website to ensure that the information is current and accurate
- Coordinate with the Health Office to provide coaches with first aid equipment and forms for student medical information
- Keep coaches apprised of any athletes who may have a medical excuse or limitation in coordination with the NBJH Nurse and PE department
- Assume responsibility for scheduling all interscholastic athletic events and keep the building principal/school office/news channel informed of all tryouts, games, practices, and schedule changes
- Provide custodians with all necessary schedules and review with them their role in set ups and storage of equipment
- Schedule all officials for home games and coordinate payments with school district account personnel
- Recruit, schedule, and train all supervisors, scorekeepers, and timers for home games
- Provide District Office with names of coaches for each sport prior to the beginning of each athletic season
- Coordinate with the nurse and administration to ensure all coaches complete mandatory trainings (e.g. First Aid/CPR, concussion training)
- Develop rules and regulations for all athletic events and provide coaches copies of any conference rule changes and/or updates
- Order and ensure the maintenance of the athletic equipment and uniforms, including the scoreboard
- Coordinate the usage of both gyms and athletic fields (which includes communication with the Park District, District Office and the Music Team)
- Order all buses for away games a few months prior to the start of the season
- Schedule pictures as soon as scheduling is complete in May, and order trophies (and any additional awards) if hosting a tournament
- Schedule supervision for home games and provide supervisors with necessary rules and regulations
- Create an Athletic Supervisor schedule
- Create Practice schedules for the Basketball Teams during the season using both gyms
- Be present at the start of home games to ensure the gyms are set up correctly, the referees are accounted for, the supervisors are ready and the buses are on their way
- Attend conference meetings and take turns hosting the meetings
- Assume responsibility for hosting the conference tournaments on a rotating basis
- Maintain conference standings as agreed upon by conference athletic coordinators
