Supervise Mechanics and maintenance of Light Duty vehicles in Barrow and maintain records.
Position Duties

Schedule and support maintenance of all light duty vehicles.
Estimate parts and labor, update and order inventory, write reports, keep logs and prepare work orders.
Inspect maintenance work to ensure quality control.
Perform hands-on-training of subordinates.
Evaluate personnel and job performance.
Conduct safety meetings and instruct personnel regarding Borough policies and procedures.
Perform the duties of a Automotive Mechanic.
Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air driven tools.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.
Skill in using personal computers and a variety of software applications.
Skill in the operation of diagnostic equipment.
Other Qualifications
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
Four years of light duty mechanic experience;
Two years of supervisory experience;
Required to obtain Incident Command System (IS) 100, IS 200, IS 300, IS 400, IS 700 and IS 800;
Required to obtain CPR, AED and Basic First Aid Certifications;
Valid Alaska Driver’s License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria. A
bility to obtain site specific Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) training in accordance with 40 C.F.R. § 265.16 within the probationary period.
Ability to obtain Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) current certification within the probationary period.
Ability to obtain Small Quantity Handler training in accordance with 40 C.F.R. § 273.16 within the probationary period.
Ability to obtain site specific Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) training in accordance with 40 C.F.R. 112.7 (f)(1)(2) and (3) within the probationary period.
