NOC EXECUTIVE / ENGINEER
A Network Operation Centre (NOC) executive or engineer acts as the "first line of defense" for an organization's network infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 connectivity and performance. Their role primarily focuses on backend management to ensure seamless uptime without the end-user ever noticing issues.
1. Core Responsibilities
- Continuous Network Monitoring: Using specialized tools like Mikrotik Dude, Zabbix, they perform round-the-clock surveillance of servers, routers, and switches to identify anomalies before they impact services.
- Incident Response & Management: They respond immediately to network alerts and hardware malfunctions. This includes triaging issues, creating tickets, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to resolve faults or escalate them to higher-tier engineers.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnosis: NOC executives diagnose complex network errors, such as packet loss or routing issues, and implement remedies like rerouting traffic or restarting devices to restore normal operations.
- Network Maintenance & Upgrades: They perform routine maintenance, including software updates, patch management, and hardware inspections, to prevent future downtime.
- Documentation & Reporting: They maintain detailed logs of all incidents, resolutions, and system changes. Regular reports are generated for management to track key metrics like Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and overall network availability.
- Security & Compliance Enforcement: While often collaborating with a Security Operations Centre (SOC), they assist in managing firewalls, enforcing security protocols, and monitoring for threats like spamming, malware attacks DDoS attacks.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: They manage and verify system backups and participate in disaster recovery drills to ensure business continuity in case of catastrophic failures.
2. Industry Certifications
Certifications are highly valued as they validate your technical proficiency with specific networking equipment and protocols.
- Networking Foundations for Executive: CompTIA Network+ and Cisco CCNA are the most common entry-level requirements.
- Advanced Networking skill for Engineer or Administrator: For senior NOC roles, CCNAor Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS certifications are often preferred.
- Operations & Security: ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) for incident management and CompTIA Security+ or CISSP for network security.
3. Essential Technical Skills
- Protocols & Technologies: Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Switching protocols like VLAN, STP, SNMP, SMTP, LACP, IP routes and routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Network Monitoring: Proficiency with tools such as Mikrotik Dude, Zabbix, or PRTG.
- Operating Systems: Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix command-line and Windows Server.
- Automation: Basic scripting skills in Python or Bash for automating repetitive tasks.
- Hardware Knowledge: Experience with routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Huawei, Juniper, HP, Dell Blade systems Fertigate, SOPHOS SonicWALL etc).
4. Experience & Soft Skills
- Relevant Experience: Entry-level roles may require 0-2 years of experience, while senior positions typically demand 5+ years in a telecom or ISP environment.
- Shift Work: Willingness to work in a 24/7/365 environment, including night shifts and weekends.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify root causes during critical outages.
- Communication: Ability to provide clear updates to customers and internal Technical Team via ticketing systems, phone calls or in WhatsApp Group.
5.Salary: Negotiable as per knowledge and experience (1 Month Probation Period with
15000 to 17000 monthly Stephen)
· NOC Executive: 3,00,000 to 5,00,000 / annum
· NOC Engineer or Administrator: 4,00,000 to 6,00,000 / annum
