Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced NMS Implementation Engineer to lead the deployment, configuration, customization, and support of Network Management Systems (NMS) across enterprise customer environments. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Linux, SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, network protocols, and monitoring platforms.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience implementing and supporting NMS or observability platforms, integrating them with ITSM tools, customizing dashboards and alarms, and troubleshooting infrastructure, tool, and connectivity issues across enterprise networks.
Key ResponsibilitiesNMS Implementation and Deployment
- Lead the implementation, configuration, and rollout of Network Management Systems (NMS) and observability platforms across customer environments.
- Deploy scalable and high-availability monitoring solutions for enterprise network and infrastructure environments.
- Onboard network devices, servers, firewalls, load balancers, and other infrastructure components into monitoring platforms.
- Support customer implementation lifecycle activities including planning, deployment, validation, and handover.
Configuration and Customization
- Configure device discovery, polling, thresholds, events, alarms, and notification policies within NMS platforms.
- Develop and customize dashboards, reports, and monitoring views based on operational and SLA requirements.
- Configure SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, traps, and MIB-based monitoring for visibility into device and network health.
- Fine-tune monitoring coverage and alerting logic to reduce noise and improve actionable insights.
Integration and Automation
- Integrate NMS platforms with ITSM / ITOM / ITAM tools such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, Jira, or similar systems for event correlation and automated ticketing.
- Support API-based or connector-based integrations between observability tools and enterprise systems.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to NMS platforms, monitored devices, and network visibility.
- Perform deep-dive analysis of monitoring metrics and telemetry collected via SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, and related protocols.
- Troubleshoot issues related to Linux server administration, NMS application performance, database connectivity, and communication with network elements.
- Work closely with internal teams, OEMs, and customer stakeholders to resolve implementation and production issues.
Linux and System Administration
- Use Linux/Unix command-line tools for system checks, log analysis, troubleshooting, service validation, and application support.
- Manage or support NMS server administration activities including service monitoring, patch validation, storage checks, and performance troubleshooting.
- Analyze application logs, system logs, CPU/memory usage, and process health on Linux-based monitoring servers.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date implementation documents including As-Is diagrams, SOPs, MOPs, configuration records, and incident reports.
- Document platform architecture, customer-specific customizations, integrations, and deployment procedures.
- Prepare implementation status reports, monitoring health summaries, and operational recommendations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in NMS, OSS, infrastructure monitoring, network monitoring, or observability implementation roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with NMS / monitoring tools.
- Strong understanding of monitoring protocols including SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, traps, and MIBs.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, VPN, WLAN, and MPLS.
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux/Unix commands, server troubleshooting, and log analysis.
- Experience integrating monitoring tools with ITSM platforms like ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira, or equivalent.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
Mandatory Qualifications
- BSC/ BE / BTech / MCA degree.
- Hands-on experience in NMS implementation and administration.
- Strong expertise in Linux command-line operations.
- Hands-on experience with SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, and IT monitoring tools.
- Strong understanding of the OSI model and TCP/IP stack.
- Proficiency in routing, switching, and enterprise network monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA / CCNP certification preferred.
- Vendor-specific certifications in monitoring platforms are an added advantage.
- Experience working in enterprise deployment, observability, or managed services environments.
- Familiarity with high-availability monitoring architectures and event management frameworks.
