Services You'll Provide
Protective Styling:
• Knotless and traditional box braids, cornrows, feed-in braids, goddess/bohemian braids
• Two-strand twists, flat twists, Bantu knots, and other natural styles
• Sew-ins (traditional and versatile), wigs, crochet styles
• Locs maintenance — retwisting, grooming, and styling
Salon Services:
• Silk press, blowouts, and thermal styling on textured hair
• Natural hair treatments — deep conditioning, protein treatments, scalp care
• Color services on textured hair (preferred; not required)
• Big chop and transition services
What You'll Do
• Conduct real consultations before every service — assess hair health, listen to the client, and recommend honestly
• Deliver consistent, high-quality results across your full service menu
• Manage your schedule and client flow professionally within Vagaro
• Follow salon standards for checkout, communication, and client experience without exception
• Build and retain a loyal client base within the salon's booking system
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to shared standards
What We're Looking For
Required:
• Active New Jersey cosmetology license in good standing
• Proficiency in textured hair services — both protective styling and salon services
• Genuine skill with natural and transitioning hair — you understand porosity, curl pattern, and scalp health
• Strong client communication — you listen, consult, and educate without talking down
• Reliable, punctual, and professional — clients are counting on you
• Comfortable working within a team-based environment with shared standards and accountability
Preferred:
• 2+ years of professional experience serving textured hair clients
• Color experience on natural and textured hair
• Experience with Vagaro or similar booking platforms
• An existing client following (helpful but not required — we have a growing client base)
Starting pay
From $20/hr (W-2, based on experience)
What This Is Not
This is not a booth rental with a professional-sounding name. This is not a commission-only arrangement where you eat what you kill. This is not a salon where you are left to figure it out on your own.
