This Work Matters in a Real Way

Some students come to school carrying more than what fits in a backpack. This role meets them right there. You become part of their day in a steady, reliable way, helping them stay connected to school when it would be easier to check out. The work is close to students. It changes depending on who is in front of you and what they need in that moment.

You’re part of a team that looks out for each other and pays attention to students in a real way. There’s room to speak up, to ask questions, and to lean on one another. What you do helps students settle and stay with their learning. You’re someone they come to recognize and trust, especially on the days that feel harder to get through.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly rate range for this position is $18.51 – $24.15. Initial placement is at Step 1 of the Nine Mile Classified Public Employees Association Collective Bargaining Agreement unless documented, verifiable experience is provided in accordance with the contract. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary schedules are available on the Human Resources page at www.9mile.org.

Employees accrue up to twelve (12) sick leave days per year. Employees who work fewer than 12 months receive a prorated sick leave allocation (for example, a 10-month employee receives 10 days). Up to three (3) Annual Leave days are available each year, prorated by scheduled hours, and may be used for personal absence or accumulated for cash-out.

Employees anticipated to work 630 hours or more per year are eligible for benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Standard SEBB benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, and long-term disability coverage.

Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months within a 12-month period are eligible for retirement benefits through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
