The Role:
Suffolk and Suffolk Design are seeking a Design Director to build and lead the Architecture (physical buildings)
within Suffolk Global. This role is central to Suffolk’s long-term strategy of evolving design support into a fully
integrated, technically rigorous, global capability.
Reporting to the Vice President, Design Delivery, this leader will build and scale a multidisciplinary architectural
and engineering team capable of delivering design development, technical documentation, calculations,
specifications, constructability-driven detailing, and eventually design ownership in support of Suffolk Design’s
integrated design strategy.
The Director/Senior Director will grow the India organization beyond production execution toward true
architectural capability, embedding design thinking, technical excellence, and building systems expertise into
Suffolk Global’s DNA.
Over time, this role will scale a 100+ person architecture and engineering organization that operates as a
seamless extension of U.S.-based design leadership.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise Serve as the senior technical authority for architectural design, documentation, and constructability
practices within Suffolk Global.
Establish and govern design documentation standards, detailing protocols, drawing set
organization, and QA/QC systems aligned with U.S. expectations for quality and technical
competence.
In close coordination with Suffolk Oversee development of coordinated architectural drawing
packages through all project design phases including Construction Documents.
Lead governance of architectural modeling, detailing, annotation, and specification standards.
Ensure architectural outputs reflect design intent, constructability, interdisciplinary coordination, and
alignment with Suffolk’s strategic needs.
Production Excellence & Workflow Optimization
Direct daily architectural production across design development and construction documentation
workflows.
Oversee preparation of technically rigorous, coordinated architectural drawing sets and
documentation packages.
Standardize architectural workflows to drive interoperability with U.S.-based Suffolk Design
counterparts with a focus on predictability, scalability, and reduced rework.
Implement structured quality control checkpoints to ensure documentation accuracy, consistency,
and constructability alignment.
Drive continuous improvement through KPI-based performance management focused on accuracy,
timeliness, and rework reduction.
Reliably produce high quality deliverables in accordance with established schedules and budgets.
In addition to other tools, leverage the Suffolk Design ERP solution to manage team performance.
Technology, Process, & Profitability Optimization
Evaluate and implement digital design tools, documentation automation strategies, and AI-assisted
design enhancements.
Partner with Design Technology, Digital Delivery, and AI teams to refine architectural workflows and
integrated model-based documentation processes.
Improve documentation efficiency, reduce revision cycles, and enhance first-pass quality.
Ensure architectural workflows align with Revit standards, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and
related enterprise systems.
Organizational Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing Architecture team within Suffolk Global.
Build deep technical capability across architectural detailing, systems coordination, and
documentation rigor.
Work with the Architectural Services lead to establish training frameworks, competency
benchmarks, and career progression models.
Drive a culture rooted in architectural excellence, accountability, technical discipline, and
continuous improvement
U.S.–India Integration & Enterprise Alignment
Act as the primary India-based architectural counterpart to U.S. Suffolk Design leadership.
Enable seamless cross-time-zone collaboration and documentation continuity.
Support U.S. Suffolk Design leaders, project executives, and multidisciplinary teams with reliable,
high-quality architectural outputs.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in architecture with strong emphasis on technical documentation and
complex project delivery. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
Demonstrated leadership of large architectural and/or engineering production teams (50+),
preferably in global or distributed delivery environments.
Deep expertise in U.S. construction documentation standards, detailing practices, and coordinated
drawing production.
Deep understanding of building systems, constructability, sequencing, and multidisciplinary
coordination requirements.
Experience building or scaling design teams, including defining standards, hiring, and developing
technical training programs.
Demonstrated strong operational discipline with experience managing highly productive and
technically competent teams in accordance with project schedules (deadlines) and fixed budgets.
Experience leveraging ERP solutions to drive operational efficiency, profitability, and constant
improvement.
Advanced proficiency in Revit and architectural documentation workflows.
Familiarity with model-based documentation, structured data integration, and digital design
environments.
Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and
influence senior stakeholders.
Entrepreneurial, hands-on leader who thrives in ambiguity, builds processes from scratch, and
drives rapid scaling and organizational growth.
Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to drive quality, consistency, and
standardized workflows across large teams.
The ability to build a cohesive, high-performing team that works seamlessly across India and U.S.
time zones.
