Principal Accountabilities:
- Support Brit’s Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture, including data lake, data warehouse, data mart structures, technologies and best practices.
- Design AI-enabling data assets to support analytical, predictive, and generative AI use cases across the insurance value chain.
- Design and guide the evolution of a cloud-based data and AI platform in Azure that supports ingestion, curation, and analytics of internal and external market data.
- Work with data science and domain teams designing agentic AI systems automating decision flows incorporating traditional AI approaches where appropriate.
- Ensure architectures are explainable, secure, and compliant with both Lloyd’s and FCA regulatory expectations around data use and AI ethics.
- Act as a trusted data technology and AI framework advisor to the Head of AI Enablement, business sponsors, explaining architectural trade-offs and opportunities in plain language.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to data engineers and scientists to foster a culture of innovation and good architectural discipline.
- Maintaining close contact with key change initiatives business users to understand and advise on their needs.
- Provide expertise to enable model changes to be made in a business-meaningful manner.
- Provide input into resource planning change delivery.
- Carry out analysis on business related issues impacting systems.
- Analysis of the rapidly changing AI technology landscape and assessment of its relevance & impact to Brit.

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- An expert in data, with substantial experience in the design and delivery of all key layers of Data & Analytics solutions. Experience implementing data and AI solutions in the cloud, specifically in Azure.
- Capacity to understand business needs and contribute to the delivery of the right solutions to help Brit achieve its strategic goals.
- Extensive experience in designing streamlined Azure AI and data cloud components, which are modular, flexible, scalable and efficient. Capability to show critical results through deep analysis of the target cloud data platform – namely in terms of costs, performance and usage.
- Extensive Data modelling and data warehousing design experience, specifically in modern cloud data platforms / delta lake houses. The strong data modelling skills must include complex relationships and historical recording techniques.
- A flair for problem solving in a dynamic environment.
- Strong technical skills and awareness of current state of the art of data, analytical and reporting tools and technologies. Hands on Technical design/development experience om Microsoft traditional technology and in the cloud
- Strong grounding in data modelling, master data, APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native design.
- SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, Python, Azure Data Factory, Spark/Data Bricks & CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in insurance, preferably London Market, UK Commercial and Reinsurance will be valued.
- Hands-on expertise in MLOps frameworks (MLflow, Azure ML,) and LLM Ops tools (Lang Chain, vector databases, RAG design).
- Familiarity with Agentic AI concepts and orchestration tools (Autogenic, Crew AI, Lang Graph, or equivalents).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Lloyd’s data frameworks, including Core Data Record (CDR), Delegated Data Manager (DDM), or Blueprint Two data initiatives.
- Experience embedding AI ethics, explainability, and model risk management frameworks into technical solutions.
- Experience working in Agile or Data Mesh environments.
- Strategic mindset with hands-on capability to deliver architecture artefacts and proofs of concept.
- Clear communicator who can engage effectively across underwriting, data and technology communities.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver innovation responsibly in a regulated, data-sensitive environment.
- Collaborative, pragmatic, and forward-thinking.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Cloud certifications (Azure Solutions Architect) are advantageous.
- AI/ML certifications (Google ML Engineer, Microsoft AI Engineer) are advantageous.
