We are currently looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) + Instructor – Backend to join our Computer Science Department. This is an academic-focused role, requiring a strong background in backend development, teaching, and mentoring students in core Computer Science subjects. Key Responsibilities Course Development & Delivery: Design and deliver engaging lectures and practical sessions in Backend Development, Express.js, Node.js, and other core CS topics. Lab Management: Conduct and manage lab sessions to provide students with hands-on coding experience. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with faculty members, researchers, and industry partners to enhance the curriculum. Academic Excellence & Student Success: Mentor students, assist with project work, and ensure academic growth. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with university administrators and Newton School representatives to drive innovation. Research & Innovation: Encourage students to engage in cutting-edge research and industry collaborations. Qualifications & Experience Must-Have: Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Software Developer with a focus on Backend Development. Proficiency in Express.js and Node.js (must be comfortable picking up new languages quickly). Solid understanding of Backend Development concepts, including experience with Database design, optimization, and cloud-based architectures. Strong ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms to students. Adaptability to learn and teach core computer science topics like Networks, Databases, and Server-Side Programming. Good-to-Have: Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. Familiarity with modern teaching methodologies and academic tools.
