Software Engineer, Backend and Data

NewsBreak is the leading platform for local news and information, and they are seeking a Software Engineer with a strong background in backend development and data management. The role involves designing and implementing backend systems and data pipelines to support B2B monetization solutions. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems for our B2B monetization platforms. Build and operate data pipelines and data warehouse integrations to support new product features. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, implement, and launch new features end-to-end. Develop high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code and libraries for future use. Integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic where necessary. Implement security best practices and ensure data protection strategies are in place. Maintain and optimize database systems, data warehouses, and pipeline performance. Document technical designs, code, system architectures, and operational practices. Qualification Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in backend software development. Hands-on experience with building and maintaining data pipelines and/or working with data warehouse technologies. Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or Python. Strong understanding of server-side architecture, system design, and cloud-based infrastructure. Solid understanding of RESTful API development and integration. Experience working with data storage systems (SQL, NoSQL) and data processing frameworks. Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail. Ability and willingness to work across both backend systems and data infrastructure as needed. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
