We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate news reporters to join our team. As a reporter, you will be expected to gather, write, and edit news in your city that will be relevant/of interest to the Indian diaspora in countries such as the US,UK Canada and others.
Title - News Reporter
Job type Shift-based Fully Remote
Shift Time- 7 a.m.- 2 p.m. IST
Sundays are working on a rotational basis.
Role and responsibilities
• Research and pitch timely original story ideas. Interview sources and subject-matter experts to gather useful quotes and data.
• Write, edit, and fact check copy to ensure it's accurate and meets readers' expectations.
• Ensure content is unbiased and ethical according to industry standards. • Stay up to date with NRI affairs, international affairs and the Indian diaspora .
Requirements
• Strong researching, interviewing, writing, transcribing and proofreading skills
• Hard and soft news reporting skills
• Able to work quickly and turn in error free copies within tight timeframes.
• Excellent command over the English Language and communication skills
• Familiarity with SEO, Social media, and Diaspora community trends
• Video Editing/ Voiceover skills (preferable)
• Enthusiasm to continuously enhance writing and editing skills by accepting feedback and suggestions for improvement
• Working with the editorial team to ensure overall quality of published content
Education and Experience
• Degree in journalism, communications, or a relevant field.
• Deep understanding of journalistic standards and editorial guidelines
• Proven experience as a news writer in a news or media organization
