About the Role
We are seeking a sharp, fast-paced, and highly creative News Video Creator to join our media team. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our daily video output, transforming complex breaking news, current events, and trending stories into compelling visual narratives. You will own the entire digital video pipeline—from rapid research and scriptwriting to high-energy editing and final delivery.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-breaking news cycle, possesses impeccable editorial judgment, and understands how to craft "thumb-stopping" content optimized for platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and X (Twitter).
Key Responsibilities
- Trend Sourcing & Fact-Checking: Actively monitor wire services, social trends, and primary sources to identify high-interest stories. Verify facts rigorously to ensure absolute accuracy and journalistic integrity.
- Rapid Scripting: Draft tight, engaging video scripts under tight deadlines, distilling complex geopolitical, cultural, or industry topics into clear, accessible narratives.
- On-Camera / Voice Presentation: Deliver clean, authoritative, and engaging voiceovers or on-camera reporting.
- High-Speed Video Editing: Cut and assemble raw footage, screenshots, and visual evidence into highly engaging, fast-paced packages using industry-standard software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut).
- Dynamic Graphic Packaging: Apply modern text tracking, dynamic captions, clean transitions, and sound design to maximize viewer retention and watch time.
- Platform Optimization: Format, frame, and package video variants for maximum algorithmic reach, including writing compelling titles and designing clean, clickable thumbnails.
Skills & Requirements
- Proven Experience: 2+ years of experience in digital journalism, news media production, or running a successful independent news/commentary channel.
- Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in video editing software, basic motion graphics, and audio clean-up tools.
- Speed & Agility: A proven ability to research, script, edit, and publish a high-quality video within a window of a story breaking.
- Editorial Judgment: Strong understanding of fair use copyright guidelines, media ethics, and fact-checking protocols.
- Strong Portfolio: A showreel or portfolio demonstrating previous news, explainer, or documentary-style video work with crisp audio and flawless pacing.
