About The Public Brief
The Public Brief is a youth-led independent media platform committed to credible journalism, sharp political analysis, and informed perspectives on key issues in India and around the world.

Role: News Intern
Internship Type: Unpaid
Work Mode: Remote
The News Intern will contribute to daily news coverage and editorial projects at The Public Brief. The role offers hands-on experience in independent journalism and exposure to reporting on public policy, governance, Indian politics, and international affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and monitor current events and emerging news developments.
- Draft news articles, news briefs, explainers, and editorial content.
- Verify facts and cross-check information using credible sources.
- Assist with political, policy, and current affairs analysis.
- Monitor news sources, official statements, and social media platforms for developing stories.
- Contribute story ideas and assist in developing news angles.
- Collaborate with editors and contributors to refine, edit, and improve content.
- Prepare summaries and research notes for editorial projects.
- Support digital journalism, multimedia, and broadcasting-related initiatives where required.
- Participate in editorial discussions and newsroom meetings.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, neutrality, and responsible journalism in all published work.
Qualifications
Candidates should have:
- Strong news writing and general writing skills.
- The ability to produce clear, engaging, accurate, and fact-based content.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong research and fact-checking abilities.
- The ability to evaluate sources and synthesise information from multiple perspectives.
- An interest in broadcasting, multimedia storytelling, or digital journalism.
- A strong interest in Indian politics, public policy, current affairs, international relations, or global affairs.
Students and graduates from journalism, mass communication, political science, public policy, international relations, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Additional Skills and Attributes
- Familiarity with Indian politics and global affairs.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Digital literacy and familiarity with online research tools.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote newsroom environment.
