About the role
The Porter plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of our office space. This role is responsible for creating a pleasant and safe environment for our employees and visitors, ensuring a positive and professional impression. The Porter will work closely with the Facilities team to execute daily cleaning tasks and special projects, contributing to a well-maintained and organized workplace.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of restrooms and pantries, ensuring adequate supplies are available.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Sweep and dust mop hallways, keeping them free of debris and ensuring a safe walking surface.
- Assist in configuring conference rooms for meetings and events, setting up furniture and equipment as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling bins, ensuring proper waste management and tidy office space.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks assigned, such as vacuuming carpets, wiping down surfaces, and sanitizing common areas.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities team promptly.
- Follow health and safety protocols, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with colleagues and visitors.
- Other related tasks assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a janitorial or housekeeping position, is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-centric approach when interacting with colleagues and visitors.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, as needed.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe handling.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- A positive and proactive attitude, with a desire to contribute to a clean and organized workplace.
