The Special Education Director with New Story Schools in District Services (IDS), provides strategic leadership, ensuring high-quality special education programming within partnering school districts. This role focuses on strong instructional practices, compliance, and meaningful student outcomes through effective IEP implementation, progress monitoring, and collaboration with district partners. The Director plays a key role in maintaining program quality, supporting staff, and building strong relationships with districts and families across multiple sites.

What You'll Need

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, Human Services, or a related field

  • Pennsylvania Special Education Teaching Certificate or Supervisor of Special Education Certificate

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in special education, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, PA Department of Education regulations, PA School Code, and FERPA

  • Demonstrated experience with IEP development, implementation, and compliance oversight

  • Experience supporting multi-site or district-based programs preferred

  • Ability to travel regularly to district sites and IDS locations

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the quality, compliance, and overall effectiveness of special education programming across all IDS locations

  • Ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations (IDEA, PDE) and maintain audit readiness across programs

  • Lead and manage the full IEP lifecycle, including evaluations, goal development, progress monitoring, and reporting

  • Provide instructional leadership by aligning curriculum, IEP goals, and evidence-based practices (e.g., differentiated instruction, UDL)

  • Analyze student data and progress monitoring to drive decision-making and continuous program improvement

  • Coach and support staff while partnering with district leaders and families to ensure strong outcomes and successful program implementation across sites
