Summary: The Receptionist will perform clerical and front office duties associated with answering phones,
greeting visitors, and purchasing supplies, services, materials, and equipment for the District.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
• Screen incoming calls and as appropriate, provide information, take messages
or redirect inquiries to the appropriate office
• Greet visitors, issue visitor badges and direct to appropriate area/staff member
• Performs first aid for students/staff; contacts family for pick up when requested, dispenses
medication according to physician instructions
• Compose correspondence, reports, bulletins and memoranda on a variety of
matters, including confidential matters
• Maintain calendar, schedule appointments, arrange meetings; prepare itineraries and
make conference and travel arrangements as required
Qualifications:
Skills & Abilities
• Prepare grammatically correct business correspondence and reports with speed and accuracy
• Speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to explain
policies and obtain information
• Maintain composure under stressful situations
• Work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction
• Learns, interprets and applies laws, rules, regulations, District policies and special department
terminology
• Utilizes proper English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and speaking skills.
• Maintains professional confidentiality
• Maintains files, records, forms and documents
• Uses a variety of technology programs, equipment, spreadsheets, reports and correspondence
• Works with District personnel and general public in a pleasant and cooperative manner
• Analyzes situations to take appropriate action regarding routine/emergency procedural matters
without immediate supervision to meet established deadlines.

Knowledge of
• Modern office practices and procedures; data processing; proper English usage; good record-
keeping techniques

• Methods and procedures used in the purchasing of school district supplies and equipment
• Advanced knowledge of office procedures, methods, maintenance of detailed and accurate
records, and computer operation
• Understands the principles and practices of accounting and recordkeeping, including good math
skills
Education, Experience and Licenses
• High School Graduate
• At least two years’ experience in customer service
