Summary: Teachers provide instruction to facilitate student learning and guide students in the learning of
the district adopted curriculum while maintaining high standards of achievement for all students
Essential Duties and Tasks:
Classroom
• Follows the Code of Ethics for the Teaching Profession
• Teaches approved curriculum
• Plans and implements a standards-based program of study, employing a variety of instructional
techniques and instructional media that meet the individual needs, interest and abilities of the
students
• Prepares and maintains lesson plans that reflect a logical sequence of learning objectives and
activities and meet the individual needs, interest and abilities of the students
• Establishes standards of classroom conduct and administers them in a fair, equitable and
consistent manner
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity
and interest of the students
• Assists the administration in the implementation of all policies, rules, regulations and priorities
• Participates in reasonable adjunct duties as assigned
• Must be able to deal with stressful situations in the classroom
• Must be able to deal with challenging conversations between colleagues, students and or parents
Student Development
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth
• Meets with students and parents for education related purposes, possibly outside of the
instructional day
• Maintains a standard of professional behavior as an example to students
• Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior
• Assists in diagnosing the learning disabilities of students

• Participates in team meetings regarding individual students
Maintain Records and Provide Reports
• Keeps appropriate attendance and academic records and prepares progress reports
• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and
administrative regulations
• Corrects and returns student assignments in a timely manner
Qualifications:
Skills & Abilities
• Compile and maintain accurate reports and records
• Speak, read and write in English at a professional level
• Work with diverse student populations, apply knowledge of culture, language acquisition and
appropriate learning strategies to meet the learning needs of all students
• Read, analyze and interpret assessment data
• Plan and implement lessons based on school and grade level objectives and the needs of all
students
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
Knowledge of
• Curriculum, education code and district policies
• Student information systems software
• Applicable sections of State Education Code and other applicable laws
• Principles of testing, data collection and reporting information
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid California Teaching Credential
