About the Role
We are building a Human State Intelligence Layer — a system that continuously interprets physiological and behavioral signals to understand human states such as stress, cognitive load, and decision instability, and enables real-time, autonomous interventions.
This role sits at the intersection of neuroscience, signal processing, and applied AI. The selected candidate will contribute to translating raw sensor data into meaningful human-state insights and intervention logic that can be deployed in real-world environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze physiological signals such as PPG, HRV, respiration, and accelerometer data to derive meaningful features and patterns
- Design and implement signal processing pipelines, including noise reduction, artifact handling, and feature extraction
- Contribute to the development of state estimation models (e.g., stress, recovery, cognitive load)
- Support the design of intervention frameworks, including audio-based, breath-based, and behavioral nudges
- Assist in building closed-loop systems linking detection → intervention → outcome measurement
- Conduct structured experiments to evaluate signal reliability and intervention effectiveness
- Translate research insights into product-ready algorithms and logic
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field
- Strong foundational understanding of human physiology, particularly the autonomic nervous system and stress response
- Proficiency in Python (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy)
- Familiarity with time-series data analysis and signal processing fundamentals
- Ability to work with real-world, noisy datasets and derive actionable insights
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with wearable sensor data (PPG, ECG, EEG)
- Familiarity with relevant libraries such as NeuroKit, HeartPy, or MNE
- Basic understanding of machine learning techniques for time-series data
- Exposure to domains such as affective computing, neurofeedback, or behavioral analytics
What You Will Gain
- Hands-on experience building real-world human state detection systems
- Exposure to end-to-end development: from signal acquisition to intervention design
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge applications in human performance, stress intelligence, and behavioral optimization
- Direct collaboration with cross-functional teams across data science, product, and engineering
Evaluation Criteria
Candidates may be asked to complete a short exercise involving:
- Defining a measurable human state (e.g., stress or focus)
- Identifying relevant physiological signals and features
- Proposing a corresponding intervention approach
