Job Overview
The Sr Network - Core & F5 Infrastructure Support Engineer is responsible for providing advanced Tier 2 support for the organization's core network and F5 infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring the stability, reliability, and optimal performance of mission-critical network systems by actively monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and deliver high-quality service, utilizing expertise in network technologies, F5 load balancers, and automation tools. By maintaining, optimizing, and securing the network environment, the Network - Core & F5 Infrastructure Support Engineer plays a crucial role in sustaining operational excellence and supporting the business’s essential services.
Responsibilities
- Handle escalated issues: Resolve complex network hardware and software issues on F5 devices and related network infrastructure. This includes deep-level troubleshooting that goes beyond routine fixes.
- Manage F5 products: Deploy, configure, and maintain F5 BIG-IP devices and their modules, including Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Application Security Manager (ASM), Access Policy Manager (APM), and Global Traffic Manager (GTM).
- Develop and troubleshoot iRules: Create and debug custom scripts (iRules) to manipulate and manage network traffic on F5 devices.
- Perform application delivery management: Implement and manage load-balancing configurations to ensure optimal performance and high availability of network applications.
- Configure network security: Set up and manage security features on F5 products, such as firewalls, SSL/TLS offloading, and other security protocols to protect applications from threats.
- Conduct network analysis: Perform detailed analysis of network traffic using tools like Wireshark and tcpdump to diagnose complex issues.
- Participate in the change management process: Plan, test, and implement changes to the F5 and network infrastructure with minimal disruption to operations.
- Maintain and upgrade systems: Perform firmware upgrades, software patching, and system management deployments for F5 appliances.

Requirements
- 5-7 years of F5 Expertise: In-depth knowledge of F5 BIG-IP platforms and modules.
- 5-7 years of experience with networking Protocols: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, the OSI model, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, and routing protocols like BGP and OSPF.
- 3-5 years of experience with operating Systems: Proficiency with Linux/UNIX and Windows administration.
- 3-5 years of experience with virtualization: Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or other hypervisors.
- 5-7 years of experience with troubleshooting tools: Extensive experience with diagnostic tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, and SNMP.
- 2-3 Years of scripting experience: Basic knowledge of scripting languages like Bash, Python, or TCL for automation.
- 5-7 years of experience with monitoring tools: Experience with database monitoring tools to track system performance, detect anomalies, and proactively identify potential issues.
- 5-7 years of experience with ticketing systems: Familiarity with help desk or ticketing software, such as Zendesk or JIRA, for tracking and managing technical cases.
Core Competencies
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly identify and resolve complex, unstructured technical issues.
- Certifications: Professional certifications from major cloud providers, such as an AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator.
