We're hiring a Network Engineer in Bengaluru for one of India's largest ecommerce platforms — a household name, running at a scale where a BGP decision made at 2am is felt by a few hundred million people before breakfast.
You'll join the network engineering team that builds and runs their data centre and backbone infrastructure. Hands-on work: multi-vendor, multi-protocol, high traffic, with architects and engineering teams around you rather than above you.
What you'll be doing
- Designing, deploying and operating multi-vendor, multi-protocol data centre and backbone networks
- Building and running the network monitoring systems that tell you what the network is actually doing
- Finding the tasks and events that don't need a human, and automating them out with Ansible and REST APIs
- Debugging live network issues through to closure and a proper RCA
- Taking on-call as part of the rota
- Working with carriers, facility operators and network vendors on design and operations
- Writing the documentation, and arguing your corner in technical discussions
What we're looking for
- 4–7 years in network engineering, with strong TCP/IP and BGP
- Solid networking fundamentals — OSPF, IPSec, routing, the OSI model
- Hands-on experience designing and operating a network inside a data centre
- A good working picture of the internet and how the pieces fit together
- Working knowledge of Linux, and scripting in Bash or Python
Useful, not essential
- Large-scale data centre networks and data centre interconnects (DCI)
- Service provider and peering network exposure
- Network automation with Ansible and REST APIs
