About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Engineer to join our System Test team within the Engineering Group, specifically focusing on Systems Test Engineering for WiFi and Networking access points. This pivotal role involves defining and executing comprehensive testing strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable connectivity solutions. As a key leader, you will drive continuous improvements in testing processes, automation frameworks, and validation tools to enhance customer satisfaction and product adoption. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing test plans, managing testing infrastructure, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and systems engineering to ensure seamless product releases.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in embedded systems, automation, and test development, with a passion for quality assurance and customer-centric solutions. You will lead a team of engineers, mentor junior staff, and work closely with product management and field teams to align testing efforts with customer needs and industry standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence product quality on a global scale and contribute to Qualcomm’s leadership in connectivity technology.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Electronics & Communications, or a related field. Extensive experience in software engineering, embedded systems, and automation is essential. Candidates with a PhD and relevant industry experience are also encouraged to apply. A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software development or testing, with at least 4 years in a leadership role, is required. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or Shell scripting is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in developing test frameworks, automation, and validation tools for wireless or networking products will be a significant advantage.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and enhancement of testing strategies for WiFi and networking products, ensuring comprehensive coverage of features and functionalities.
- Design, develop, and maintain test plans, test cases, and automation frameworks to validate product performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Manage testing infrastructure, including test topologies and use case scenarios, to facilitate efficient validation processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—software, hardware, systems, and product management—to support end-to-end product releases and address feature-specific issues.
- Mentor and lead a team of engineers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing related to testing methodologies, automation, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct detailed log analysis and troubleshooting to identify root causes of issues, providing actionable recommendations for resolution.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand customer requirements, ensuring testing aligns with market needs and industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing processes, automation, and tools to enhance efficiency and product quality.
- Maintain documentation of testing procedures, results, and quality metrics to support product lifecycle management.
