About The Role
In our ‘always on’ world, we believe it’s essential to have a genuine connection with the work you do. As a Lead Engineer – IT Network at Vistance Networks, you will be instrumental in shaping and advancing our global network architecture. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in enterprise network engineering and architecture, capable of applying best practices and proven design methodologies to create resilient, secure, and scalable connectivity solutions. You will collaborate closely with senior technology leaders and subject matter experts to define strategic roadmaps, establish architecture standards, and continuously improve network performance and security.
This position involves leading the design, deployment, and optimization of complex network solutions, serving as a senior escalation point for critical issues, and providing technical leadership within the architecture team. Your strategic insights and hands-on expertise will directly influence the organization’s technological growth and operational excellence, ensuring our network infrastructure supports current and future business needs effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive hands-on experience in enterprise network architecture and engineering, including routing, WAN, security, wireless, and data center networking.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale enterprise initiatives spanning multiple technologies and architecture domains.
- Strong ability to develop strategic technology roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Ability to lead through influence, take accountability for outcomes, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of network technology roadmaps, providing strategic planning, technical expertise, and recommendations for emerging technologies.
- Ensure all network architecture and technical solutions comply with corporate policies, industry standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with IT Operations and business stakeholders to maintain alignment with evolving business initiatives, technologies, and deployments.
- Assess current network technologies to identify opportunities for performance enhancement, optimization, and cost reduction, and define high-level plans to achieve measurable value.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly through presentations, documentation, and executive briefings for senior leadership.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of architecture documentation, including design artifacts, Visio diagrams, and configuration standards.
- Coordinate architecture team workloads, provide technical leadership, and serve as the primary point of contact for architecture-related initiatives.
- Perform network modeling, analysis, and capacity planning to ensure solutions meet both current and future business requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across a range of technologies including routing protocols, firewalls, wireless, load balancers, VPNs, and more.
- Support the design, deployment, and optimization of SD WAN solutions, with a preference for Versa Networks experience.
- Assist in designing and rolling out IPv6, WAN circuits, data centers, manufacturing sites, branch offices, and remote connectivity solutions.
- Develop and maintain network automation tools utilizing scripting languages and APIs such as Python, YAML, JSON, and others.
- Support cloud networking initiatives across AWS and Azure, including lifecycle management, vendor selection, circuit provisioning, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting using tools like Wireshark, TCPDump, and IOS packet capture to diagnose complex network issues.
- Act as the fourth-level escalation point for major outages and critical network incidents impacting business operations.
