About The Role
The Network Engineer – Juniper Specialist at HCLTech is a vital member of our IT infrastructure team, responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting Juniper-based network solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of Juniper hardware, software, and protocols to ensure the organization’s network environment is secure, scalable, and highly available. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to support enterprise-wide network operations, contribute to strategic planning, and implement best practices for network security and performance. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered. Certifications such as Juniper JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, or JNCIE are highly preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation in Juniper networking technologies. Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with Juniper devices in medium to large-scale enterprise environments. Technical proficiency in Junos OS, CLI, and GUI management tools is essential. Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), MPLS, QoS, Layer 2/3 switching, and network security fundamentals is required. Familiarity with scripting languages like Python and automation tools such as Ansible is advantageous. Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills are critical, along with a willingness to learn emerging technologies and adapt to evolving network landscapes.
Responsibilities
Design and deploy scalable and resilient Juniper-centric network solutions across data centers, campuses, and branch locations, analyzing business needs to develop optimal architectures. Configure and administer Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls, managing network services such as VLANs, routing protocols, VPNs, and security policies. Utilize network management tools like Junos Space and SolarWinds to monitor network health proactively, conduct performance tuning, and troubleshoot issues before they impact operations. Diagnose and resolve complex connectivity, security, and performance issues, providing level 2/3 escalation support and root cause analysis. Implement and maintain security best practices, including firewall management, DDoS mitigation, and intrusion prevention systems, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, configuration records, and SOPs. Plan, test, and execute firmware and software upgrades, ensuring all devices are current with security patches. Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing procedures, and business continuity strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and service providers to ensure seamless network operations and implement continuous improvements by researching emerging Juniper technologies and recommending enhancements for efficiency and resilience. Additionally, provide mentorship to junior staff and participate in on-call rotations to support 24/7 network availability.
