About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Full Remote Network Engineer to join our team at All European Careers. This is a long-term position designed for professionals who are eager to contribute to complex network projects across multiple European locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise network design, implementation, and management, with the ability to lead technical initiatives independently. While the role is remote, candidates must be willing to attend on-site meetings within Europe as needed. Candidates must also be fluent in English and possess a work permit for Europe, as sponsorship is not provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on modernization and strategic network upgrades.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Network Engineer or Network Architect within enterprise environments.
- Extensive expertise with Cisco networking technologies, including Layer 2/3 switching, routing, VLANs, DHCP, firewalling, and site-to-site VPNs.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki products (MX, MS, MR) in production environments.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience with network lifecycle management, particularly planning for EOL/EOS equipment.
- Knowledge of hybrid or globally distributed organizational networks.
- Experience transitioning from managed network services to in-house or cloud-managed solutions.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
- Willingness to travel for on-site meetings within Europe as required.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze existing network architecture across affected offices, including core, access, firewall, and wireless components to identify risks and areas for improvement.
- Validate operational dependencies and risks related to EOL/EOS equipment, ensuring proactive planning and mitigation.
- Design and develop a target-state network architecture aligned with industry standards and Cisco Meraki best practices to support organizational growth and security.
- Define migration and transition strategies that minimize service disruption during network upgrades and replacements.
- Provide technical leadership for the replacement of core switches and firewalls in Budapest, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
- Support configuration, deployment, and cutover activities for Meraki-based infrastructure, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Assist with phased renewal planning for Geneva’s access switching and wireless infrastructure to ensure continuous service availability.
- Ensure proper VLAN segmentation, routing, firewall configurations, and Wi-Fi design to optimize network performance and security.
- Produce comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, BOMs, and operational runbooks for future reference and operational handover.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to internal teams, enhancing their understanding of the new network architecture and operational procedures.
- Provide detailed risk and dependency analyses to support decision-making processes and inform steering committees on project progress and challenges.
