Description
Nelson Pipeline is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Shop Foreman to oversee our Shop& Equipment operations in Fort Lupton, CO. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of our shop, equipment and business operations, including budget management, personnel management, process improvement, cost analysis, vendor analysis and ensuring the highest standards of safety and internal customer service to our field employees.
Duties:
- Manage a monthly budget of $500-$1M, including reporting and analysis on department costs, trends and forecasting with a focus on creating cost efficiencies and driving a cost-conscious culture
- Establishes positive relationships with vendors while effectively negotiating to establish mutually beneficial contractual terms and pricing
- Direct and monitoring preventative maintenance scheduling and repairs for all equipment and company vehicles
- Oversee all shop operations, including work orders, inventory management, and streamlining processes and communication channels
- Maintains appropriate communication between all departments within the company, with an ‘internal customer first’ mentality
- Drive a culture of safety by promoting safe working habits and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations
- Lead and manage a team of employees, including training, resolving personnel issues, payroll, and conducting performance appraisals and more
- Reviews and approves the results of activities within the department and takes appropriate action as necessary
- Complete administrative tasks such as payroll review, time-off approval, and work order assignment
- Approximately 70% of the job will involve administrative and people management tasks, with the remaining 30% involving hands-on work in the shop or field
- Oversee all aspects of equipment operations, including scheduling and coordinating equipment moves to and from jobsites
- Ensure proper usage, maintenance, and training on all equipment to promote safety, reduce wear and tear, and extend equipment life
- Oversee purchasing and spend tracking to ensure budget stays on track
- Fleet management of excavators, loaders, water trucks, rex compactors, tractor backhoes, skid steer, and enterprise trucks
- Team management of shop mechanics, field mechanics, flatbed driver, fuel driver, small tools, welding manager, and lube technician
- Manage all asset registration/DOT compliance
- Other job duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a shop environment preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in shop management preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business and people management preferred
- Willingness to travel within the district as necessary and work the required schedule at our Fort Lupton location
- Valid driver's license
- Strong customer service and organizational skills
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and web-based applications
