Job Summary
Beatrice Ready Mix and Concrete Company is looking for a high performing, results-oriented Plant Manager to join our team. This position manages production, distribution, operations, and employees for the concrete plant facility in Beatrice while meeting the demands of the operation and continually balancing the competing needs of maintenance and production. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assures production, and distribution of a ready mixed concrete plant is handled in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the department/company.

Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.

 

Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the operation.

 

Determines work procedures and assigns duties to personnel associated with the batching and hauling of concrete and materials.

 

Assures all Lockout/Tagout program/policy for Ready Mixed is developed and implemented while assuring personnel follow safe lockout/tagout procedures.

 

Assures SDS forms are maintained and up to date for accurate information and immediate review.

 

Provides up-to-date status on support or production activities to appropriate parties.

 

Coordinates and supervises any updates and/or alterations in plant design.

 

Estimates and develops costs for major repairs and renovations to the operation.

 

Develops support information for the maintenance plan.

 

Inspects personnel performance for quality and quantity. Documents and provides feedback on performance, as necessary.

 

Responsible for general appearance and security of grounds and buildings, equipment, and machinery.

 

Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.

 

Conducts safety meetings and plant safety/environmental inspections as required.

 

Develops and recommends budgets to management.

 

Other duties may be assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job provides supervisory responsibilities for Concrete Truck Drivers - direct, Plant supervisor, batch operations personnel--direct. Approximately 25 people.

 

Education and/or Experience: 

  • High school diploma or GED; and
  • 5 years in ready mixed concrete production or related role, with at least 2 years in a leadership; or
  • equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license. CDL helpful but not required.
  • ACI Field Testing Technician Certification - Grade 1, or ability to obtain within reasonable time frame.
  • NDOT Certified Plant Technician Certification, or ability to obtain within reasonable time frame.
  • Forklift, Loader, and Arial Lift Certifications, or ability to obtain as needed.

 

Other Qualifications: 

  • Must have thorough knowledge of and be capable of operating all equipment and machinery used in ready mix concrete production and delivery.
  • A proven track record of increasing responsibility and results in production, maintenance, process, and quality.
  • Must have a good overall technical knowledge of plant operations, concrete materials, training, environmental compliance, equipment, and construction projects.
  • Previous work experience in quality assurance and testing is helpful.
  • An understanding of the Safety Rules & Regulations of the industry required.
  • Mus tbe able to occassionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Other Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to write business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Must be able to read and understand/interpret specifications, operations manuals, equipment instructions, safety rules, etc. and draft reports and communicate with management and subordinates to solve problems, provide instruction, etc.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and apply principles of basic algebra, geometry, and shop math to calculate variables such as inventory, moisture content and preparation of daily reports.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
