Qualifications
ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for the GG-07, you must meet the following required education level: Completion of 1 academic year of graduate level education, or a completed bachelor's degree or have completed 5 academic years of pre-professional study. All educational requirements for this position must be met by June 30, 2027. Program Completion and Conversion: Interns may be converted at the discretion of the agency to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-5 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program. To be eligible for conversion, Interns must: - Be a U.S. Citizen - Complete at least 160-320 hours of work experience acquired through the Student Internship Program - Complete their degree requirements - Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted - Perform their job successfully NOTE: Students who convert to a permanent position may be eligible for a Recruitment/Relocation or Student Loan Repayment Incentive as the discretion of the agency.
Education
QUALIFYING EDUCATION: 1) A high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body, or a home-school curriculum that has been approved by such body or state. AND 2) Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education: (i) A high school or home-school curriculum; (ii) A technical, vocational, or trade school; (iii) A 2-year or 4-year college or university; (iv) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or (v) Other accredited educational institution. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements, if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide such evidence when applying. Other Information
This position will be recruiting students for the summer of 2027, though may tentatively start earlier if all security requirements are cleared and Education/Eligibility requirements are met. Students will typically work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) and will have to commit to working 160-320 hours during the summer months. You may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions outlined in the qualifications section of this announcement. Appointment may be extended beyond initial 364 days if student maintains enrollment. All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601.
