Role Description The Naval Architect will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing vessels and marine structures, ensuring compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and industry standards. Day-to-day tasks include performing hydrostatic and stability calculations, structural assessments, and feasibility studies for new builds, retrofits, and conversions. The role involves preparing drawings, technical reports, and documentation, coordinating with marine engineers, surveyors, and project stakeholders, and supporting site inspections and surveys as required. The Naval Architect will collaborate on projects related to vessel upgradation, sustainable ship recycling, and regulatory compliance (including IHM, EEXI & CII). This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bhavnagar, requiring regular interaction with operational teams and shipyard or site personnel.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, with the ability to apply these skills to vessel design, retrofitting, and conversion projects.
- Proficiency in engineering Calculations and Structural Analysis for ships and offshore structures, including stability, strength, and performance assessments.
- Knowledge of maritime standards, classification rules, and Navy or commercial vessel requirements, with experience applying them to practical design and inspection work.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with relevant design and analysis software (e.g., hull design tools, CAD, structural analysis packages) and strong MS Office skills for documentation and reporting.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with clients, surveyors, and shipyard personnel.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety, quality, and environmentally responsible practices.
- Prior experience in ship design, retrofitting, vessel upgradation, or ship recycling projects is an advantage.
