Job Description: National Sales Manager
Industry: FMCG / Consumer Goods Location: New Delhi (with pan-India travel) Experience: 8–12 Years
About the Role
We are looking for a results-driven and strategic National Sales Manager to lead our sales operations across India. The incumbent will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and building a high-performance sales team across all regions.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute the national sales strategy aligned with overall business objectives
- Set monthly,quaterly and annual sales targets by region, channel, and product category
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a pan-India sales team including Regional Sales Managers and Area Sales Executives
- Drive a performance culture through regular reviews, coaching, and incentive planning
- Recruit and develop sales talent to build a future-ready team
- Plan Marketing activations from time to time.
Channel & Distribution Management
- Oversee general trade, modern trade and Regional Modern Trade
- Strengthen distributor and channel partner relationships to ensure optimal coverage and service levels
- Drive numeric and weighted distribution expansion in key markets
Revenue & P&L Ownership
- Own the national revenue target and gross margin objectives
- Monitor and manage sales budgets, trade spends, and promotional ROI
- Ensure adherence to pricing policies and credit management norms
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure seamless go-to-market execution
- Provide market intelligence and demand forecasts to support production and inventory planning
Key Requirements
Education
- MBA / PGDM in Sales & Marketing from a reputed institute (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
Experience
- 8–12 years of progressive sales experience in the FMCG / Consumer Goods sector. Imported goods category(preferred)
- Minimum 4 years in a national or multi-region sales leadership role
- Demonstrated success in managing large distributor networks and field sales teams
Skills & Competencies
- Strong commercial acumen and P&L understanding
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in sales analytics tools and CRM platforms
- Deep understanding of Indian retail landscape
- Willingness to travel extensively across India
