Job Purpose
To lead, standardize, and scale cardiac sciences programs across the Apollo Hospitals network by integrating clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and strategic growth initiatives, while ensuring optimal patient outcomes and financial performance.
3. Key Result Areas (KRAs)
A. Program Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute national strategy for Cardiac Sciences
- Establish and Advance Centers of Excellence (CoEs) across key geographies
- Scale advanced cardiac programs (TAVR, LVAD, complex PCI, EP programs, MICS and Robotics)
- Drive network-wide growth in cardiac volumes and case complexity
B. Clinical Governance & Outcomes
- Standardize evidence-based clinical protocols across all units
- Monitor and improve:
- Mortality and complication rates
- Door-to-balloon time (STEMI care)
- Readmission rates
- Implement national cardiac outcomes registry and benchmarking
C. Operational Excellence
- Drive efficiency across cath labs, cardiac OTs, and ICUs
- Optimize:
- Cath lab utilization
- OT utilization (CTVS)
- Average Length of Stay (ALOS)
- Ensure adherence to defined clinical pathways and protocols
D. Financial Performance
- Improve contribution margins across cardiac procedures
- Ensure package adherence and reduce revenue leakage
- Enhance revenue per cath lab / OT
E. Cardiac Implant & Device Program
- Lead national strategy for:
- Coronary stents, Structural heart devices, Electrophysiology devices
- Establish vendor partnerships and contracting frameworks
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies
F. Stakeholder Management
- Align internal stakeholders: Interventional Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, CTVS Surgeons
- Build strong engagement with: External referring cardiologists, Industry partners and device companies
- Promote Heart Team approach for complex cases
- Cardiac Advisory Council
G. Network Development
- Strengthen hub-and-spoke referral networks
- Build regional cardiac clusters across India
- Increase cross-referrals within Apollo network
H. Quality & Accreditation
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Support audit readiness and accreditation processes
I. Training & Capability Building
- Develop fellowship and training programs
- Conduct CMEs, workshops, and simulation-based training
- Build leadership pipeline in cardiac sciences
J. Digital & Innovation Initiatives
- Implement cardiac registries and performance dashboards
- Enable tele-cardiology and remote monitoring solutions
- Support adoption of AI-driven clinical decision tools
4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Growth in cardiac volumes (%)
- Cath lab & OT utilization (%)
- Risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates
- Implant cost per case
- Contribution margin per procedure
- Average Length of Stay (ALOS)
- Readmission rates (30-day)
- Referral inflow (internal & external)
- Number of advanced procedures (TAVR, LVAD, EP)
5. Qualifications & Experience
10+ years in cardiac sciences
Minimum 5 years in program leadership / multi-unit / multi-facility management
Experience in:
- High-volume tertiary/quaternary hospitals
- Cardiac implant programs and cath lab operations
- Exposure to Indian healthcare ecosystem (mandatory)
- International exposure (preferred)
