National Legal Manager
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct and supervise legal due diligence of property documents submitted for secured lending products such as LAP, MSME loans, and mortgage-based loans.
- Validate ownership title, chain of documents, encumbrances, and property rights to ensure clear and marketable title.
- Examine sale deeds, title deeds, agreements to sell, development agreements, and property-related legal documents.
- Vet and approve mortgage documentation, equitable mortgage creation, and collateral security documents. Ensure proper execution of loan agreements, mortgage deeds, and security documents.
- Identify potential legal risks in property titles and recommend mitigation measures before loan approval. Provide legal opinions on property entitlement, land use, and ownership rights.
- Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines and internal policies related to secured lending and property-backed loans. Monitor legal requirements related to property registration, stamp duty, and mortgage creation.
- Coordinate with credit, technical, and operations teams during property evaluation and loan processing. Provide legal inputs on collateral acceptance and property risk evaluation.
- Manage and guide regional legal teams across multiple locations.
- Manage and monitor panel advocates and legal vendors responsible for property search and title reports. Standardize legal search reports, title investigation reports, and legal opinion formats across regions.
- Monitor and review legal due diligence reports, title search reports, and property verification MIS. Provide periodic reports to senior management on property legal risk and compliance.
Preferred candidate profile
- LLB /LLM Degree with 12-18 Years in property law, mortgage documentation, and secured lending legal processes in NBFC / Banking sector.
- Key Skills - Property Title Verification, Legal Due Diligence, Mortgage Documentation, Property Law & Land Records, Risk Assessment in Secured Lending & Stakeholder Management.
