About the role

National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands. Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-Week Orientation. Graduates will spend time learning the core functions of the business, networking with our Executive team, and traveling across our service territory. By the end of Orientation, you'll have an in-depth understanding of who National Grid is as a company and how we do business. You'll have also formed a network with your fellow Graduates as well as many business contacts, which will only help you in your full-time roles. Following orientation, you'll start work in the full-time role you've been hired for within the organization. While specific positions vary year to year, past hiring departments have included: Gas Process & Engineering, Electric Process & Engineering, Procurement, Accounting & Finance, IT & Digital, Regulation & Pricing, Audit, Fleet Services, Performance Excellence, Customer, Human Resources and Operations. Throughout the first year, in addition to their in-role responsibilities, Graduates attend a series of strategic training sessions aligned to National Grid's Manager Essentials and based on making the most of our Graduates Strengths. You will be paired with a GDP Alumni to provide an additional layer of support and guidance as you begin their career at National Grid. GDPs participate in a Hackathon, an experiential one-day event where you will go through the stages of design thinking with support from Senior Leaders to identify solutions to a real challenge that National Grid faces. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in a 3-month one-on-one coaching experience to focus on your career navigation at the end of the 12-month development program.
