Duties
Primary security advisor to senior leadership, interpreting and applying DoW and Intelligence Community policies. Resolves conflicts across security disciplines and develops new approaches for complex, cross-cutting security challenges.,Leads and integrates all major security functions: Personnel security, Physical security (facilities, access control). Information/industrial security. Ensures all activities meet national security requirements and conducts program reviews.,Serves as Special Security Officer (SSO): Directs SCIF operations and SCI programs. Maintains control/accountability of classified materials and access. Conducts indoctrinations, debriefings, and security education.,Manages collateral security programs, including: Determining clearance requirements. Overseeing clearance processes. Ensuring secure facilities, communications, and contractor access coordinating security support across multiple units.,Serves as Foreign Disclosure Advisor, approving and coordinating release of information to foreign nationals under national security policy. Supervises civilian and military security staff, including workload management.
Qualifications
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined experience managing and executing security programs in support of national defense operations, including personnel, physical, information, industrial, and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level. Official Transcripts: If the position you are applying for has a positive degree requirement or education forms the basis for qualifications (i.e. you would not qualify without the education obtained), you MUST submit transcripts with your application. Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation upon request. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.
