Duties
Oversees and performs duties relating to environmental programs to protect or improve environmental quality, control pollution, remedy environmental damage, or ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.,Manages compliance with environmental laws and regulations in areas such as air and water quality, hazardous and nonhazardous waste, materials management, storage tanks, oil and hazardous substance, resources, endangered species, coastal management.,Consults on compliance related to site restoration and remediation, and any other current or future environmental requirement through permitting, self-assessments, audits, inspections, investigations, reporting, and corrective actions.,Integrates environmental considerations into the decision-making processes (e.g., integration of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) into construction and operation and maintenance projects).,Reviews proposed actions (e.g., leasing, land transactions, mission activities) to ensure environmental requirements are included in planning and decision-making and any public involvement requirements are met.,Works with manufacturing facilities for aerospace production for NASA missions, projects, and missions.,Monitors contracted work either externally or on-site to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.,Serves as technical monitor between contractors, contracting officers, logistics, and facility personnel.,Applies knowledge of project management processes including budget formulation, criteria and requirements development, scope development, schedule development and management.,Serves as an authority on environmental requirements for the design and operation of facilities and equipment used for manufacturing of aerospace components.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Utilizing environmental laws and regulations to assess and analyze environmental issues and assist an organization in environmental compliance and prevention issues; Managing multiple site (Manufacturing Facility w/ multiple tenants) -level environmental compliance or natural resources management programs to ensure the site understands and meets regulatory and agency requirements; and Participating in the development of organization environmental planning and compliance programs with site, agency and regulatory stakeholders.
