Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced MySQL Application DB Engineer with 4–5+ years of expertise in database development, performance tuning, and application support. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in MySQL, writing complex queries, and optimizing database performance for large-scale applications.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with development teams to ensure efficient and reliable database operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform query performance tuning and optimization
- Analyze and validate data based on business requirements
- Support application development by writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues within applications
- Monitor and analyze database logs (error logs, slow query logs) to identify issues and bottlenecks
- Document database design, data models, and mappings (e.g., V1–V2 mapping)
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security across systems
- Handle database deployments, migrations, and version control
Required Skills & Experience
- 4–5+ years of experience in database engineering or related roles
- Strong hands-on experience in MySQL
- Proficiency in SQL (joins, subqueries, aggregations, performance tuning)
- Good understanding of data modeling concepts
- Knowledge of query optimization techniques and execution plans
- Experience in handling large datasets
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with database performance monitoring tools
- Familiarity with indexing strategies and partitioning
- Exposure to ETL processes and data pipelines
- Understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Additional Tools & Technologies
- Database: MySQL
- Querying: Advanced SQL
- Version Control: Git (GitHub / GitLab / Bitbucket)
- Monitoring: Database logs, performance tools
Relevant Experience Preferred
- Experience supporting high-transaction or enterprise applications
- Exposure to production database environments with large-scale data
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
