JOB OVERVIEW
The Pool Technician is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and repairing resort swimming pools, hot tubs, equipment, and related mechanical systems to ensure a safe, pristine, and guest-ready environment. This role plays a vital part in protecting guest safety and the overall presentation of the resort.
The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while exercising sound judgment and decision-making skills. Strong technical knowledge in mechanical and electrical systems is required, along with effective communication skills when interacting with guests, team members, and leadership.
The Pool Technician ensures health department regulations, resort standards, and internal quality expectations are met or exceeded. This position requires prolonged standing and walking, kneeling, lifting, and carrying equipment and chemical supplies as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Demonstrate a professional, hospitality-driven demeanor while maintaining pool areas that reflect resort standards.
· Utilize company phone-based service software to receive, update, and complete work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
· Provide your own basic hand tools; company supplies power tools.
· Respond promptly and professionally to all work orders, completing them efficiently with attention to quality, safety, and minimal disruption to guests.
· Maintain advanced knowledge of ORP systems and ensure proper functionality and calibration.
· Diagnose, repair, and maintain swimming pools and hot tubs, including pumps, filters, heaters, automation systems, and water circulation systems.
· Maintain strict adherence to all safety guidelines, OSHA standards, and local/state health regulations.
· Understand and apply the Langelier Saturation Index to maintain proper water balance and prevent scaling or corrosion.
· Utilize spin lab testing equipment and accompanying software to accurately test and document water chemistry.
· Maintain clean, clear, and sanitary water conditions in all resort pools and spas always.
· Ensure the pool furniture and windows are cleaned each morning, and remain free of debris to uphold resort appearance and enhance the guest experience.
· Monitor and maintain proper chemical balance, including pH, chlorine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and stabilizer levels.
· Maintain detailed and accurate chemical logs and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
· Perform daily inspections of all pool areas, furniture, drains, grates, and safety equipment to ensure guest safety and first impression excellence.
· Ensure pools and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and free of hazards.
· Proactively identify and address maintenance concerns before they impact the guest experience.
· Maintain a flexible schedule based on operating demands of the resort, including required availability on weekends, holidays, and peak occupancy periods.
· Meet established performance standards for water quality compliance, response time, preventative maintenance completion, and overall aquatic facility presentation.
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or General Manager.
EDUCATION:
· Certified Pool Operator Certification (Required)
