Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mushroom Grower role based in Arrah. The Mushroom Grower will manage the full cultivation cycle, including substrate preparation, spawning, monitoring temperature and humidity, and overseeing the growth and harvesting of mushrooms. Responsibilities include maintaining hygiene standards in growing rooms, regular inspection for pests or diseases, and accurate record-keeping of production, inputs, and yields. The role involves safe handling of tools and equipment, coordinating with the farm team on storage and dispatch, and supporting continuous improvements in cultivation methods. The Mushroom Grower will work closely with management to implement best practices, follow safety protocols, and contribute ideas to optimize productivity and quality.
Qualifications
- Practical experience or strong interest in mushroom cultivation, including basic knowledge of substrate preparation, spawning, and harvesting.
- Skills in farm operations and environmental monitoring, such as handling tools safely, maintaining cleanliness, and tracking temperature, humidity, and crop health.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures, maintain records of inputs and outputs, and support quality control in daily farming activities.
- Basic understanding of sustainable agriculture principles, resource efficiency, and safe handling of farm materials and equipment.
- Physical ability to perform manual farm work, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in controlled environments.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability in following instructions, and willingness to learn and adopt new cultivation techniques.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with farm team members and supervisors in an inclusive and respectful manner.
- Prior experience in mushroom or horticulture farming is an advantage; vocational training or coursework in agriculture or related fields is beneficial.
