Murex DevOps Engineer
The Murex DevOps Engineer is responsible for managing, automating, and optimizing the infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and environments for Murex (MX.3) — a leading front-to-back trading, risk, and treasury platform used in capital markets. This role bridges traditional DevOps practices with deep knowledge of the Murex platform's architecture, environment lifecycle, and release management.
Required Skills & Experience
- 12+yrs of experience in Murex Devops.
- Build and execute the dev ops activities in the area.
- Self Driven, Can work with minimal or zero assistance and takes ownership
- Strong understanding of Murex architecture: Front, Middle, Back office modules, Datamart, MxML
- Experience with Murex environment management tools (Murex Package Manager, MxTest, deployment scripts)
- Proficiency in scripting: Shell, Python, Perl
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, Bamboo, or Azure DevOps
- Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows Server administration
- Experience with job scheduling tools: Autosys, Control-M, or similar
- Database exposure: Oracle or Sybase (SQL, basic admin tasks)
- Familiarity with middleware: WebLogic, WebSphere, or Tomcat (Murex app server hosting)
- Understanding of networking, load balancing, and security in a banking/financial environment
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools: Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK stack
- Knowledge of ITIL processes: change, incident, and problem management
Preferred/Nice-to-Have
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for Murex cloud migrations
- Experience with containerization of Murex components (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Prior experience in a Tier 1 bank or financial institution
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting under pressure (production support)
- Ability to work with global, cross-functional teams (business, functional, infra)
- Clear documentation and communication skills
- Comfortable with on-call/rotational support for critical environments
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Murex application deployments (Dev, UAT, QA, Pre-Prod, Prod)
- Manage Murex environment provisioning, cloning, refreshes, and decommissioning
- Automate deployment of Murex patches, datamarts, and configuration changes across environments
- Administer and monitor Murex infrastructure components: MX.3 application servers, Datamart, MxML, batch schedulers (e.g., Autosys, Control-M)
- Work closely with Murex functional/technical teams to support releases, upgrades, and hotfixes
- Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet for Murex server provisioning
- Manage containerization/virtualization of Murex components (Docker, Kubernetes, VMware) where applicable
- Monitor system performance, batch job health, and application logs; set up alerting (e.g., using Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, Nagios)
- Support disaster recovery (DR) planning and execution for Murex environments
- Collaborate with DBAs to manage Murex database schemas (Oracle/Sybase) tied to environment builds
- Maintain version control and branching strategy for Murex configuration and scripts (Git, SVN)
- Ensure compliance with change management, audit, and security policies
- Troubleshoot environment issues, connectivity problems, and batch failures
- Document environment architecture, deployment runbooks, and standard operating procedures
