The Vice President of Human Resources (VP, HR) serves as a strategic business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team, leading the development and execution of the company’s people strategy. This role is responsible for aligning human capital initiatives with business objectives, ensuring compliance with California and federal employment laws, and building a high-performance culture that drives engagement, accountability, and growth.
The VP, HR oversees all aspects of human resources including talent acquisition, employee relations, total rewards, organizational development, compliance, performance management, succession planning, and HR operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business objectives
- Lead workforce planning to support growth, operational efficiency, and succession readiness
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on organizational design, culture, talent risk, and change management
- Build and sustain a performance-driven, inclusive, and values-based culture
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent
- Oversee employer branding and workforce analytics
- Implement scalable onboarding and leadership development programs
Employee Relations & Culture
- Establish and maintain fair and consistent employee relations practices
- Provide executive-level guidance on complex employee matters
- Promote a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Lead employee engagement surveys and action planning
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws including but not limited to:
- California Labor Code
- FEHA (Fair Employment and Housing Act)
- FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act)
- CFRA (California Family Rights Act)
- ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)
- Oversee investigations, claims management, workers’ compensation, and risk mitigation
- Maintain compliant HR policies and employee handbook
Performance Management & Development
- Lead performance management processes aligned with company goals
- Develop leadership training and succession planning frameworks
- Implement learning and development initiatives to support career growth
HR Operations & Systems
- Oversee HRIS and people analytics reporting
- Ensure accurate payroll coordination and HR data integrity
- Drive process improvements and HR operational excellence

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive HR leadership experience
- At least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role
- Deep knowledge of California employment law required
- Experience working directly with executive leadership and Board-level reporting preferred
Required Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or similar certification
Work Environment & Travel
- Primarily office-based
- Occasional travel may be required (Less than 10%)

Compensation & Benefits
- $250,000-$270,000/yr base plus bonus
