Company Description Makaibari Tea is one of the world’s oldest tea factories, established in 1859 by G.C. Banerjee, the founding father of Makaibari Tea Estates. Located in the Kurseong subdivision of the Darjeeling District, the estate has a long heritage of tea craftsmanship and community stewardship. Makaibari sustains seven villages and over 1,500 residents, reflecting a close connection between the estate’s operations and local livelihoods. The villages span both the western and eastern sides of the estate, forming a diverse, vibrant community that supports the production of high-quality tea. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Kolkata Area, supporting multiple operational and administrative functions for Makaibari Tea. Day-to-day responsibilities may include coordinating tea-related sales and customer service activities, assisting with logistics and inventory management, and supporting documentation and reporting for business operations. Team members will collaborate with production, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure efficient processes and accurate communication with internal and external stakeholders. The role may also involve basic office administration, data entry, and support for marketing or events related to Makaibari Tea’s brand presence. Flexibility to take on varied tasks, a willingness to learn, and a strong sense of accountability are essential.
Qualifications
- Operational and administrative skills, including basic office management, data entry, and document handling.
- Customer-facing skills such as clear communication, professionalism in sales or service interactions, and relationship-building with partners and vendors.
- Basic business support capabilities, including coordination with logistics, inventory tracking, and scheduling.
- Comfort with using common digital tools (email, spreadsheets, word processing) and learning internal systems as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow established processes and timelines.
- Capacity to work on-site in a collaborative environment and adapt to multiple role requirements.
- Prior experience in tea, agriculture, FMCG, hospitality, or retail operations is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Relevant education or training in business, commerce, hospitality, or a similar field is an advantage; equivalent practical experience is also valued.
