Position Summary:
The Recreation Program Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing recreational programs and activities for the community. This role ensures programs meet the diverse needs of residents, promote community engagement, and operate efficiently within budget. The Manager will supervise staff, manage program schedules, and collaborate with other municipal departments, community organizations, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate recreational programs for all age groups, including sports leagues, fitness classes, cultural programs, and special events.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the recreation department, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Manage program budgets, monitor expenditures, and prepare financial reports.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate recreation staff and seasonal employees.
- Coordinate facility usage, scheduling, and maintenance in collaboration with the Parks & Recreation team.
- Foster community partnerships and promote programs through outreach and marketing initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and legal regulations.
- Collect and analyze program participation data to guide future planning and improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Parks & Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in recreation management or program coordination.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and recreation management software.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
