Job Description:
- Provide L3-level support for complex and critical SQL Server production issues.
- Design, implement, and maintain high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), Log Shipping, Replication, and Backup/Restore strategies.
- Lead performance tuning and optimization activities using execution plans, indexing strategies, Query Store, wait statistics, and IO analysis.
- Perform capacity planning, database growth forecasting, and infrastructure recommendations.
- Own and manage SQL Server upgrades, migrations, and patching (in-place and side-by-side).
- Design and enforce backup, restore, and DR testing strategies aligned with business RPO/RTO requirements.
- Implement and maintain database security including encryption (TDE), auditing, permissions, vulnerability remediation, and compliance standards.
Technical Skills (Mandatory)
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server 2012–2022
- Deep knowledge of:
- SQL Server Internals & Architecture
- Performance tuning & query optimization
- HA/DR (Always On AG, FCI, Log Shipping, Replication)
- Backup & recovery strategies
- Security (TDE, auditing, permissions, compliance)
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Failover Clustering, and storage concepts
- Strong scripting skills in T-SQL and PowerShell
- Experience with monitoring tools (SSMS, SQL Profiler, Extended Events, third-party tools)
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with SQL Server on Azure (Azure SQL MI, Azure VM, Hybrid setups)
- Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD pipelines for database deployments
- Experience in cloud migrations and modernization initiatives
Knowledge of ITIL processes and managed services environments
