Student Intern-Marketing Department (Press Office)-Mount Sinai Health System-Hybrid-Full Time-Days
Position Summary:
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) Administration and Operations Summer Internship Program, managed by the Office for Health Data, Outcomes, and Engagement Strategy (HDOES), provides non-clinical (not patient-facing) internship opportunities within hospital and corporate departments to high school, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. Our goal is to expose individuals to unique career pathways in healthcare leadership, management, administrative, and corporate services fields while offering the tools, skills, and knowledge necessary to succeed within the industry.
All interns are required to participate in all HDOES-sponsored activities, including educational sessions and panels, engagement events, and the Awards & Recognition Ceremony at the end of the summer.
ResponsibilitiesDepartment: Marketing Department (Press Office)
The Press intern will have a window into all facets of press outreach work, which includes the cultivation of relationships with reporters and producers; crafting outreach materials such as formal press releases, media advisories, and less formal press pitches. She will have the opportunity to translate complex scientific findings into lay friendly materials for engagement with the news media. In terms of subject matter, we will craft an experience that dovetails with her interests in public health, maternal health, equity research, and cancer. She will be invited on shoots with television reporters and producers to see how stories come to life for television, in addition to opportunities to join brainstorm sessions to support our diverse podcasts, including one of our newest podcast additions, HERology, dedicated to the science and practice of women’s health.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or greater depending on department and role.

Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and on teams as well as prioritize staff
Specific skills/qualifications as required by the department
Skills and qualifications include the capacity to translate science into lay -friendly language, to write clearly and concisely, and to work collaboratively with members of the news media.
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $17.00 - $22.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
