Position: Medical Technologist
Location: 1600 S 20th Ave, Safford, AZ 85546
Responsibilities: Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis. Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction. Prepare reagents necessary for daily operations and perform maintenance when required. Collect and study blood samples to determine the number of cells, their morphology, or their blood group, blood type and compatibility for transfusion purposes, using macro- and microscopic techniques. Conduct analysis of body fluids (including blood, urine, feces, and spinal fluid) to determine presence of normal and abnormal components. Use established lab protocol to perform laboratory tests and correctly log the results of those tests. Identify, diagnose, and repair issues that may arise with the laboratory equipment. Respond appropriately to results with the status of STAT, call results, or timed specimens. Submit appropriate abnormal results to senior level managers for review, when necessary. Meet current documentation standards and policies and enter data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results accordingly. Present all records and procedures to various accrediting inspectors as requested. Assist in compiling data for all necessary reports, as well as review pending and outstanding reports on every shift and conduct appropriate follow-ups to resolve outstanding specimens. Summarize results and report findings to referring physicians and medical specialists, as well as collaborating on patient care.
Educ./experience: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or related field, plus one (1) year of post-baccalaureate experience as a Medical Technologist or in a related position. Position requires certification from ASCP or AMT.
