Job summary
Contentstack is seeking a motion designer to drive the creation of motion and animation
assets across various marketing touchpoints for our US-based team. In this position,
you’ll create engaging videos that tell our product, brand and customer stories while
bringing our technology to life. This role is key in creating high-performing assets for
events, OOH, digital advertising and 2D animated assets like explainers and other visual
content related to our products and our technology. From designing storyboards to
publishing, you will support our mission to explain how we enable companies to create
exceptional digital experiences.
We expect this role to be responsive to feedback and able to deliver revisions in a timely
manner. This role will interface largely with the Design Manager and Creative Producer.
Content and Earned Media Leads, as well as internal stakeholders. Strong English reading
comprehension is required for this role.
Flexible Work Schedule: Working with a US-based team will require occasional evening
meetings to bridge the 12-hour difference.
Required skills:
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite & Figma: (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator,Photoshop), Figma and other relevant motion design tools (Cinema 4D, etc.)
- Experienced video editor: compositing, color grading, and audio editing and mixing.
- Expert in animation principles: including timing, pacing, and storytelling
- Knowledge of Lottie, Rive: ideally the candidate has knowledge of web animation file creation tools and outputs
- Motion graphics & animation:
- Create compelling 2D animations, motion graphics, and visual effects for a wide range of digital and offline media, including social media ads, web videos, presentations, trade show displays, TV commercials, and more
- Develop dynamic UI animations at the direction of the design manager and brand look & feel
- Video editing & post-production:
- Edit raw footage, incorporating motion design, sound, and visual effects to deliver polished video assets for various platforms
- Curation and selection of high-quality stock footage, shot footage, and music arrangements
- Integrate animations, graphics, and visual effects into video edits to create cohesive, high-impact content
- Cross-platform adaptation:
- Adapt and optimize designs for multiple formats, ensuring that assets are correctly formatted for social media, commercials, OOH signage and event-specific requirements.
- Familiarity with web development or working with developers to implement motion design into live websites. HTML5 experience is a must.
- AI-Assisted design & workflow Familiarity with AI tools as part of a modern motion design workflow including generative tools, AI-assisted video editing, and prompt-based asset creation. The ideal candidate uses AI to accelerate production without compromising brand quality or creative integrity.
- Work independently: the ideal motion designer can work autonomously, have excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, and prep work for review at the end of their workday.
- Manage work tracking tools like Monday: no experience is needed in Monday, but the designer should be comfortable navigating a project tracking platform: receiving assignments, responding to messages, linking to files, understanding and honoring timelines, etc. Bonus skills
- Static, 2D design skills and storyboarding: graphic design experience is a bonus that includes creating 2D vector assets, sourcing imagery or footage, and concepting on transitions and best ways to architect a storyboard from a script.
